How to sync notes between your phone and computer

Write a note on your laptop and open it on your phone moments later — without emailing it to yourself and without creating an account. SyncNote pairs your devices with a simple 6-digit code, and you choose exactly which notes are shared.

The quick version

SyncNote is a free, private notes app for Android and the web. Notes live on your device first. When you want a note on another device, you pair the two devices once with a 6-digit code and share the note to a workspace — no email sign-up required to sync.

Step by step

  1. Open SyncNote on both devices

Use the web app on your computer and the SyncNote app on your Android phone. Start writing right away — notes save locally and instantly.

  2. Pair with a 6-digit code

On one device, generate a pairing code. Enter the same code on the other device to connect them. No account or email is required to pair.

  3. Share the notes you choose

Share a note to your paired workspace and it appears on both devices in seconds. Notes you don't share stay only on the device where you wrote them.

What syncs and what stays private

Syncs across paired devices

  • Notes you explicitly share to a workspace
  • Edits to those shared notes, in near real time
  • The folder a shared note belongs to

Stays on your device

  • Any note you don't share
  • Vault notes — always on-device, never uploaded
  • Everything, if you never turn on sync or backup

Shared notes sync through Google Firebase to reach your other device. To understand exactly what is uploaded and how it is protected, see our security page.

Keep working offline

SyncNote is offline-first. Because your notes are stored locally, you can keep writing and editing with no internet connection. Shared notes sync the next time you're online.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to sync?

No. Device pairing uses a 6-digit code and needs no email or sign-up. A Google sign-in is only required if you separately turn on encrypted cloud backup.

Can I sync between Windows, Mac, and Android?

Yes. The web app runs in any modern browser on Windows, macOS, or Linux, and pairs with the SyncNote Android app.

Will all my notes be uploaded?

No. Only the notes you choose to share to a paired workspace are synced. Private notes and vault notes stay on your device.

Is SyncNote free?

Yes. SyncNote is free to use, with no ads and no trackers.
